Handmade Goats Milk Soap Hints

Handmade goats milk soap:

- can be used on both your face and your whole body. It is so soft on the skin, it can even replace your moisturizer.

- can be used to treat acne. The goat milk soap diminishes bacteria from the skin while keeping your skin moisturized at the same time.

- can be used to soothe bug bites. Not many soaps offer this extra benefit. Just apply a lather of the soap to the bite and let it sit for a while before rinsing

To make your soap last longer, let it dry completely after using, some people even use 2 bars, one ready for use while the other is drying out. Never store soap on a wet towel or cloth. Use a soap holder that will allow excess water and suds to drain completely and properly, wood holders are generally better for this purpose.

Shampoo Bar Hints

Changing from commercial liquid shampoo's to the organic shampoo bars: There a few things to keep in mind. Shampoo bars create a lot of lather except when used in hard water. When you begin using a shampoo bar you need to give your a hair about a week's time to get the residue from your past hair care products to be completely washed from your hair. So, for about one week your hair will be going through an adjustment period and may be seem a bit unruly or hard to style. The best way to speed up your hair's adjustment period is to use a clear rinse of one half cup of white vinegar, let it sit for fifteen minutes and then rinse with warm water to help get rid of the old residue build up.

Once your hair has adjusted to the organic shampoo bar, you can rub the bar in your hands to create later and then massage through your hair starting at the scalp. If you have very thick hair or longer hair the best way to use the bar is to rub it directly on the scalp in three or four places and then massage into your hair.

No Need for Conditioner: In using a combination of oils for the organic shampoo bars there enough conditioning created which leaves no need to use a separate conditioner.

Interesting Facts About Commercial Soap, Shampoo's and Creams

Some commercial soaps can be classified as detergents rather than soap. In the USA the FDA would not allow some soap manufacturers to sell their products as soap but rather "body cleansers" on the grounds of their ingredients. Most big-brand soaps contain harsh chemicals that can irritate the skin, alcohol that dries the skin, and sometimes petroleum products, which is why some of these products leave the skin skin itchy and dry.

Did you know that the ingredients on commercial products are listed from the highest concentration to the lowest? The active ingredient that are being promoted would most probably be listed last, meaning that the concentration of that specific ingredient is very low, for example: you will notice that in shower gel and shampoos aqua are generally first on the list meaning that you are paying for water!

When commercial soaps are manufactured most of the glycerine get extracted to be sold back to you in the form of cosmetics, creams and lotions.

In commercial products the branding, advertising, bottle or jar often costs more than the product itself!
